UK TRIBES
UK Tribes was created in 2005 by Channel 4 to explore the diversity of youths in honest terms and described about by the young people themselves. The main aim was to focus on how now there is more fluidity within youth, therefore by collecting a range pf quantitative and qualitative date the research shows how the are currently 25 different tribes within 5 planning segments; Alt, Mainstream, Leading Edge, Urban and Aspirant.

My target audience are most likely to fall under the 'ALT' tribe category, who aspire to be different, independent and stand out from the crowd whilst just being themselves. They also tend to be dedicated merchandise buyer and gig goer so will support their favourite artists. The website describes them to be:
The Tribe who ‘want out’ of the Mainstream – an experimental Tribe trying anything and everything Alternative from Grunge to Hardcore…
However, I believe the majority of my target audience will fall under the Young Alts category. Young Alts are a long standing youth Tribe – the entry level Alternatives that simply want to set themselves apart from the Mainstream by looking alternative, listening to alternative music, having alternative views… Even if they are Mainstream in every other sense!
